Weather, Air Conditioning & A Nice Apartment

Hello,
I've been told that most apartments in Florence don't have air conditioning. Now, I've found a wonderful apartment over the internet, one right on the Arno with plenty of positive aspects that just about completes it as a potential dream place, but it doesn't have A.C. where it does have independent heating. Is this a problem? Where I come from, if you're without A.C., you're cooked. At 4am this morning, I was pouring sweat and miserable... I don't want to worry about that out there. Also, if anyone is going to be in Florence from the start of September until late May and they are interested in an apartment place, let me know.
Lack of a/c.. just one of the many things you will need to adjust to! Take the apartment (great location!) and buy a fan. And bring bug repellent (next to the Arno... watch out for the mosquitoes)! By September the weather will be cooling down, and by late November you'll be freezing. (My apt's heating didn't work and it was so cold I had to wear a down jacket to bed)!
From September until May you don't need A.C. in Florence...from June to August I recommend you to go in Sardinia (or, better, on the Alps!) on Holidays if you don't have A.C. in your house in the city center.... But..where are you from?
